Haiti Earthquake Disaster Fund
The Orthodox Union's Haiti Earthquake Disaster Fund is already making a world of difference.
Two jumbo jets carrying more than 220 doctors, nurses, civil engineers, and other Israeli army personnel, including a rescue team and field hospital, were among the first rescue teams to arrive in Haiti. In fact, they were the first foreign backup team to set up a medical treatment facility in earthquake ravaged Port-au-Prince.
Counted among those who are especially grateful is proud mother, Gubilande Jean Michel, whose baby boy was born in the Israeli field hospital. As an expression of her gratitude she named her son Israel. Little Israel is one of the hundreds who have been saved by Israeli doctors or rescue teams
Those who have made contributions through the Orthodox Union's fund will be proud to learn that the support forwarded by the OU to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) was used to provide special equipment (including incubators for newborns) in the field hospital and orthopedic equipment used for crush victims.

The Barak Raviv Foundation is dedicated to assisting the less-privileged both locally and around the world. By working with existing organizations on the ground, the Foundation advocates the ancient Jewish axiom of "Tikkun Olam," or Healing the World. We seek to promote the work of organizations that share our values, our goals and our commitment. The Foundation's philosophy is based on the virtue of giving back more than one has received, and it advocates service, education, tolerance, and hope. To focus our efforts, the Foundation's mission is organized into 11 primary causes supporting over 80 charities. These causes are grounded in our objectives and will be familiar to our supporters. We work openly with our partner charities, seeking the best ideas for new projects and learning how our funds translate into progress.
Following the Haiti earthquake, the Foundation set up a matching gift program that raised over $10,000 to provide medical assistance on the ground.
